Rishika Bhatia of class 10C bagged the first position as the Best Delegate in the Sacred Heart School Model United Nations held on 26th and 27th October 2024. She excelled in the UNCSW committee, which had more than 70 delegates competing.
Just like we can’t imagine a world without colours, a world without black and white colours is unimaginable too. Continuing in our endeavour to make our little ones aware about the importance of colours, students of Class Nursery of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated Black and White Day on November 6,2024. Children were dressed in black and white attires and enthusiastically participated in the black and white show and tell activity. Activities like painting and pasting of cotton balls on a penguin were conducted to reinforce the concept . It was indeed a fun -filled learning day for the little ones.
The students of Class-ll of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh were made aware about the importance of healthy eating to meet their daily nutritional requirements during their General Awareness class. To apprise the students about healthy eating a ‘My Healthy Plate Activity’ was organised on November 7, 2024. The children were told about eating right and in balanced proportions. The students were instructed to divide a plate into four parts to show the 4 major food groups. The motive behind this activity was to make the children understand the importance of eating a balanced diet for a healthy life. They were further apprised about the same with the help of modules and PPT. It was a great learning experience for our young learners as they learnt the importance of inculcating the habit of healthy eating in their lifestyle.
The festival of lights-Diwali was celebrated with great fervour by the Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. The children were looking adorable dressed up in the traditional attires. They participated in different activities like decorating diyas and made beautiful rangolis and torans. This hands-on approach not only encouraged artistic expression but also instilled a sense of accomplishment and pride in the young learners. They enjoyed watching modules and singing and dancing on the songs related to the festival. They were brimming with excitement and joy on this special day.
The school Diwali assembly at Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, was a vibrant celebration of India’s festival of lights. The event commenced with a solemn prayer, seeking divine blessings and prosperity.
A poignant poem on Diwali, recited by students, highlighted the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
The cultural programme began with a lively Punjabi folk song, performed by the school choir.
The traditional Diwali dance, presented by the students , mesmerized the audience. Students had the audience glued to their seats as they showcased their swift movements depicting the happiness at the arrival of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.
The assembly concluded with a heartfelt message from the principal, emphasizing the significance of Diwali values: compassion, forgiveness, and unity.
The Diwali assembly successfully promoted cultural awareness, community bonding, and festive joy.
A delightful ‘Grandma’s storytelling session’ was organized for class Nursery of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. This initiative aimed to strengthen community ties by involving family elders, fostering the flow of wisdom and family values to the children. Amidst a world of screens, the session offered the little ones a refreshing break, immersing them in the magic of storytelling. The children listened with wonder as the grandmother shared her tale. As a token of gratitude, the tiny tots presented her with a succulent plant, honoring the special time spent together.
The fifth Skill Saturday, held on October 19, 2024, was a resounding success. The day began with a meditation session, fostering emotional balance and relaxation. This was followed by a thrilling cubing competition, testing students’ speed and skill in various events. A quiz on festivals of India showcased students’ knowledge of Indian culture and traditions. The monologue activity brought literary characters to life, demonstrating public speaking skills and creativity. After a delightful pool lunch, students engaged in eco-friendly paper lantern making, promoting sustainability and artistic expression. The day concluded with Vocaboost, an interactive vocabulary-building session. The diverse activities offered a perfect blend of learning, creativity, and fun, leaving participants feeling enriched, relaxed, and inspired. The event was an unforgettable experience, showcasing the students’ versatility and talents.
The students of Class Nursery embarked on an exciting educational trip to the Gandhi Smarak Bhawan, where they explored the life journey of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. As the little champs explored the museum, they were moved by the iconic personal belongings of Gandhi Ji, like his clothings, spinning wheel, spectacles, stick, khadaus, bed etc. Students were made to understand the teachings of the three monkeys of Bapu. The students returned to school with a newfound appreciation for the life journey of Gandhi Ji.
Public speaking and effective communication are essential components of personality development. Acknowledging this need for students and with the festive season approaching, a public speaking activity focused on the topic ‘Festivals’ was organised for the Class I students of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh. The students shared insights about various festivals celebrated in India, showcasing their confidence and enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see them perform so well and they greatly enjoyed the experience while learning a lot in the process.
Delhi Public School, Chandigarh organised an educational trip for the students of class II to the Indian Airforce Heritage Museum. The children were enlightened about the different wars India had with Pakistan, they saw SAM – III missiles and a section honouring female IAF officers for their contributions to the national service.
Children were engaged with interactive displays and multimedia presentations that detailed the history and achievements of the IAF. The trip was both educational and enjoyable, leaving the students with a greater appreciation for the Air Force and its contributions to the country.
The Inter-House Rangoli Competition was organized on 21st October,2024 for students of classes 3-5, fostering creativity, teamwork and cultural appreciation.
The event comprised two rounds:
Preliminary Round: Students created rangoli designs on sheets from home.
Final Round: Selected students showcased their artistic skills in school.
The competition yielded beautiful and intricate rangoli designs, demonstrating exceptional creativity, teamwork and cultural understanding among students. We commend our students for their creativity and enthusiasm.
The Senior Editorial Board of DPS Chandigarh organised a Quiz in all the sections of Class V on October 21st, 2024. The Quiz was organised and conducted by Students of class XI and XII in collaboration with the Editorial Board of the school. The young students were really excited to participate in the Quiz and improve their general knowledge.
Skill Saturday dated 19 October 2024 aimed to enhance students’ cognitive and emotional skills through a series of engaging activities. The focus was on brain booster exercises, meditation, doodling, calligraphy, and financial literacy through a simulated marketplace. Skill Saturday successfully provided a variety of learning experiences that catered to cognitive, emotional, and creative development. Students actively participated and expressed interest in continuing these activities.
