Pre- Primary Wing organised activity on ‘Experiential Learning’

The Pre-primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh recently organised an exciting and educational activity once again on ‘Experiential Learning’, aimed at introducing young children to new concepts through hands-on experiences. The activity was designed to spark curiosity, enhance critical thinking skills and foster a love of learning.
During the activity, the children had the opportunity to engage in a variety of fun and interactive experiments, each focusing on different scientific concepts. One of the highlights was the ‘Water Pollution Experiment’, where children explored the effects of pollution on water. Another engaging experiment, ‘How Do Leaves Breathe?’, helped children understand the essential role plants play in our ecosystem. The ‘Bending Light (Refraction)’ experiment was also a favourite, providing a fun and visual way to introduce the concept of light refraction.
Under the careful guidance of their teachers, the children performed these experiments, asked questions and shared their observations. It was an exciting and enriching experience that sparked their imagination, encouraged hands-on learning and laid the foundation for future learning in science.

Pre- Primary Wing celebrated ‘Republic Day’

The Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, celebrated Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The young learners were introduced to the significance of this historic day through an engaging PowerPoint presentation.
They were reminded that Republic Day marks the adoption of the Constitution of India. The students enthusiastically participated in a variety of creative craft activities and patriotic song singing which added to the festive spirit.
The celebration inspired a sense of national pride, making it a memorable experience for the young learners.

Class Nursery organised ‘Dress Up Day’

Helpers are an integral part of our lives, be it an engineer, doctor, teacher or housekeeping staff. To make the children aware of the community helpers, Team DPS, Chandigarh organised ‘Dress Up Day’ for children of Class Nursery. Dressed as helper of their choice, children of Class Nursery spoke about the duties performed by helpers and their contribution towards the society. It was a great learning experience for the children.

Pre-Primary Wing organised ‘Vegetable Printing Activity’

To express their imagination through the medium of art the Tiny Tots of the Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh made their own creations using onion printing to make flowers depicting, the arrival of spring season. The children were happy and excited during the activity admiring their finished prints. Overall, the children had a great time and were delighted by the fun and messiness of the activity.

Class I organised ‘Weather Wheel Activity’

A ‘Weather Wheel Activity’ was organized for the students of Class I at Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, to help them learn about different types of weather. The students were taught that weather changes daily. Through this activity, they gained a better understanding of these changes by spinning the weather wheel.
During the class, the children created their own weather wheels and learned how they function. They divided a paper plate into four sections, each representing a different type of weather. A movable hand was placed at the center to indicate the weather for the day. This hands-on experience proved to be very informative and interesting for the students.

Class VIII organised Poster Making Competition

Team DPS organised State Level Voter Awareness through a Poster Making Competition in Class 8 on 20th January 2025. The children enthusiastically crafted posters on the theme, “Nothing Like Voting,I Vote for Sure”. They showcased their creativity and contributed to raising awareness about the importance of voting.

Class VIII Trip to ‘Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Coorg’

Class VIII students recently enjoyed an exciting trip in January to Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Coorg.
In Bengaluru, we visited the Lalbagh Botanical Garden, known for its beautiful greenery and rare plants, and the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, which provided engaging, hands-on learning experiences in science and technology.
In Mysuru, the iconic Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hills offered stunning views and a spiritual atmosphere. We also admired the grandeur of the Mysore Palace and explored the impressive Gothic architecture of St. Philomena’s Church.
In Coorg, we marvelled at the serene Abbey Falls and the scenic views at Raja’s Seat, a famous sunset point. A visit to a coffee plantation taught us about coffee cultivation, while the Golden Temple (Namdroling Monastery) mesmerized us with its peace and intricate Tibetan art. A brief shopping break added to the fun, with students buying souvenirs like Mysore silk and Coorg spices.
The trip was a perfect blend of education, culture, and fun, creating unforgettable memories for everyone.

Grades VI-VIII organized ‘Veer Baal Diwas’

Veer Baal Diwas was organized on 26th December, 2024 as a nationwide celebration dedicated to honouring children as the foundation of India’s future. This year, the theme for Veer Baal Diwas was ‘Veerta’ which means acts of courage, kindness, and resilience displayed by children.
The celebrations included activities conducted nationwide, culminating in the main event on 26th December, 2024 which was graced by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.

Nursery Class celebrated ‘Brown Colour Day’

Colours spread joy, smile, fun, happiness and meaning in our life. Continuing in our endeavour to teach the children to visually identify all the different colours Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated ‘Brown Colour Day’ on January 15,2025.Our little Seedlings and Saplings were dressed in shades of brown. The kids enhanced their communication skills as they confidently participated in the show and tell activity . Brown wool pasting activity on a teddy bear was performed by the students in a very enthusiastic and joyful manner. Pre-Primary Wing celebrated ‘Lohri’

The Pre-Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated Lohri with vibrant hues and cheerful energy. The festival, which marks the joyous arrival of spring and bids farewell to winter, was embraced with great enthusiasm by the little ones. Children eagerly participated in craft activities, creating beautiful artworks while learning about the significance of Lohri. Adding to the festive joy, students and teachers sang traditional Punjabi folk songs, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. The event beautifully captured the spirit of togetherness and left everyone with warm hearts and festive cheer.

Avijit Saini of Class VII-H stood THIRD in the online category of “Tagebuch” in an array of International Inter-School German Competition named ‘Kreativ: The German Linguistic ‘ was held on 08-11-2024 by DL DAV Model School, Pitampura in collaboration with Goethe-Institute New Delhi.

Suhani Sharma (Class XII) wins a spot at NCERT’s prestigious Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshini 2024

Suhani Sharma, a Class XII student and Head Girl, has achieved a remarkable feat by winning a spot at NCERT’s prestigious Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshini 2024. Her innovative creation, Ecologs—a renewable, eco-friendly cremation log made from cow dung and shredded coconut shells—was selected among 185 winning entries nationwide. Under the able guidance of our science faculty, she improvised the design of the machinery to accelerate drying, efficient combustion and minimize smoke. RBVP 2024 is being held at Sports University, Sonipat, Haryana from 26th Dec to 31st Dec, where thousands of students visit daily to see the country’s most innovative projects.
This achievement follows her first-place win at the State-level Children Science Exhibition (RSBVP) held in Dec 2023. The National Children Science Exhibition selection process involves nearly a million students advancing through school, block, district, and state levels. The final selection is based on the evaluation of research papers and video presentations of the best state-level entries.
We encourage students to start preparing now—the call for entries begins in September. Who knows? The next big innovation could be yours!

 

 

Class Nursery organised ‘Sorting Activity’

The young learners of class Nursery of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh were apprised about the importance of winter season through an interesting Sorting of Clothes Activity. They sorted and separated the clothes season wise. They were explained about the winter season through rhymes and modules. The activity helped the children know and learn more about the season. Overall it was a fun learning experience for the children.
