Class VIII-‘Badge Designing Activity’

 

To celebrate ‘Earth Day’, the students of calss VIII took part in ‘Badge Designing Activity’.

Each child made a badge and inscribed his/her pledge on it. These will be worn by the students for the entire week showing their commitment to the cause of-‘Save the Earth- We only have One’.

 

Class VII Quiz held on 17th April, 2015

A written quiz was organized for students of class 7 on 17th April’15 to commemorate ‘Earth Day’.  The students participated enthusiastically and attempted the questionnaire whole heartedly. Two students from each house (section wise) qualified  for the next round of oral quiz.

Award by SOF

Chahat kalsi of DPS Chandigarh has been awarded the esteemed title of ASSETNATIONAL SCHOLAR

Chahat Kalsi of DPS Chandigarh has been awarded the esteemed title of ASSETNATIONAL SCHOLAR for her amazing performance in the Duke TIP ASSET Talent Search. 8000 7th and 8th graders participated in this Talent Search in 2014-15 from India and UAE. Chahat is among the 347 toppers who have been awarded with this title.

Baisakhi Activity

Tiny tots of Nursery and Prep and Class I thoroughly enjoyed the Baisakhi activity. Children of class Nursery made a wheat pod using wheat grains. Children of Class Prep decorated the picture of a Dhol by doing tearing and pasting in it. Students of Class I celebrated harvest festival by pasting wheat grain on a card. The teacher further told them about the importance of Baisakhi, the festival of harvesting.

Workshop on ‘Use Of Google Tools’

Ms Achint conducted a workshop on ‘Use of Google Tools’ highlighting the importance of the use internet in the classroom. It was an introductory session. The workshop was well placed and well-timed. She spoke about the need to collaborate and connect with other educators to enhance the Teaching-learning experience. It will help to guide students to harness the power of technology.

Workshop on Innovative Measures in Classroom Teaching

Ms. Nina Pandey conducted a workshop on ‘Innovative Measures in Classroom Teaching’. She introduced the concept of using videos in the class which is being widely used all over the world, to make teaching-learning beneficial and promote collaboration skills and peer interaction. It  is a form of blended learning which proves beneficial as personalized guidance is given in the classroom. Ms. Nina showed two interesting videos- The Water Cycle and Glycolysis. It was very informative session. The presentation was well- organized, well-placed with apt use of visual aids.

Workshop on ‘School Evacuation Plan’

In continuity with a series of workshops, a brief workshop was conducted by Ms Sapna Nagpal and Ms Supriti Bhadra for the teachers of DPS Chandigarh to sensitize the teachers about the importance of evacuation and the routes to be followed in case of emergency. A complete layout of the school was discussed. Numbers and names were assigned to all the staircases and exits.

Safety of the students is foremost which was taken care of.

Annual Sports Meet ‘Udaan – Choo lo Aasman’

It was an exciting week for class II students as they geared up for their Annual Sports Day, which is an integral part of any students’ life. It not only keeps them fit but also develops in them healthy competitive spirit. The Annual Sports Meet ‘Udaan – Choo lo Aasman’ was held on April 10, 2015 in the school playground. The sports meet was declared open, with the release of balloons by the Principal Ms. Reema Dewan. It was followed by free hand exercises and drills. Various races were held where neck to neck competition was witnessed. The winners of the races were honoured with certificates. The playground came alive with colourful ribbons, balloons and the little ones and their dear Chirpy, the mascot.

Class III Trip To Siswan

The school had organized an exciting one day adventurous trip for class III to ‘Will-O-The Wisp’ on 6th December,2014 at Siswan in the Shivalik foothills. Various adventurous activities like trekking, traversing, tent-pitching and tug-of-war lightened up the bubbling kids. The fun and frolic continued with swings, various games and cart rides. The students and the teachers relished sumptuous food. The trip was not just entertaining but served a good platform for learning. There were talks on survival techniques, etiquettes and table manners. In the end, the prizes were given away for the best Cadet and the well kept tent. It was really a fun-filled day for everyone.

Class IX Picnic

At the onset of the academic session 2015-16,Class IX went on a day trip to Kurukshetra on 30 March 2015. The trip included a visit to the Kurukshetra Panorama Science Centre and Krishna Museum. This was an attempt to give the students first hand information about history and they learned about scientific concepts in a fun filled manner. Eńroute the enthusiasm of children was doubled with sumptuous breakfast at Haldiram’s, a delicious lunch at Kimaya Resorts followed by dancing and singing. Children had an integrated, exhaustive day which was very educative and fun filled.

Class IV Picnic

Class IV children were full of zest and enthusiasm as they boarded buses to go on a picnic to INOX cinemas and Chokhi Dhani. Children watched in rapt attention, engrossed in the movie “Chaar Sahibzaade” and munched along popcorns with cold drink and a sumptuous sandwich.

At Chokhi Dhani children were welcomed with a ‘tikka’ and were awestruck when they saw the village setting inside. After some eatables, puppet show, magic show, tight rope walk, rides etc. children were served authentic Rajasthani food.

Nursery Orientation

An orientation was conducted for the parents for the session 2015-16 at DPS, Chandigarh, to welcome them and acquaint them with the working of the school and teaching methodology. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal and a few grandparents present followed by an AV presentation. Children of Class- Prep and Class-I gave an insight of the school curriculum through verses and lines. In her address to the parents, the Prinicipal Ms.ReemaDewan gave tips on good parenting and urged them to spend quality time with their children. She then introduced her team of teachers and coordinators. The session concluded with a group photo.
