Career Counselling for Class XII

Two seminars were organised and conducted for Class XII.

An experienced career counsellor Mr. Rajeev Markanda made the students aware about various career options after class XII, with emphasis on exploring law, management, design, accountancy etc. He reasoned with students as to why getting a degree from reputed college/ university matters. He conducted a test to make them aware about their orientation.

Another session was conducted by Mr. Chhatwal- an educational psychologist and success coach. He guided the students by helping them visualise success, set goals and then take steps to achieve those goals.

Annual Teachers Stress Busting Workshop-“Sapped to Zapped”

The Counselling Dept. of the school conducted a workshop for the staff members.

The aim of the workshop was to help the teachers tackle the day to day stresses in the workplace and deal with it effectively, empathetically and positively.

There were games organized for the teachers to feel energized, rejuvenated and actually feel “sapped to zapped!”

DPS Chandigarh Wins Inter-DPS National Tennis Tournament Boys (Open) 2015

 

DPS, Chandigarh lifted the Inter-DPS National Tennis Tournament Boys (Open) 2015 from May 18-20, 2015 at DPS, Chandigarh. The match de finale saw DPS, Chandigarh beating DPS, Maruti Kunj (Score 2-1) to lift the trophy. Chirag Dhaya (Maruti Kunj) beat Uddayvir Singh (Chandigarh) 6-4, 6-2. Sabrang Sandal (Chandigarh) beat Nishant (Maruti Kunj) 6-0, 6-0. DPS Chandigarh beat DPS Maruti Kunj doubles 6-2, 6-1.

Sabrang Sandal of DPS Chandigarh was declared the Best Player of the Tournament. Chirag Dhaya from DPS Maruti Kunj received a special award for his consistent performance. DPS Gurgaon rounded off with the 2nd Runners-up position.

82 players from 24 different schools from all over India saw the better of each other in this U-19 tournament.

The three day event ended with a grand finale on Wednesday. Mr. Kamlesh Kumar, DPI Schools, was the Chief Guest. He appreciated the laudable efforts of DPS Chandigarh in promoting the spirit of sportsmanship.

Principal Reema Dewan thanked all the participating schools with a profoundly satisfying feeling of scaling newer heights of success.

The teams bid adieu to each other carrying home the reverberating and vibrant rhythmic Bhangra Beats!

Eye Camp at DPS Chandigarh

Delhi Public School Chandigarh organized a screening camp for refractory errors and other eye ailments for children of Class I on 15th May 2015 in the school premises. Dr. Suresh Gupta, Consultant from Department of Ophthalmology, Government College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh led a team of doctors and optometrists. Children were told about the importance of balanced diet and eye care. He emphasized on screening of children between 5-8 years of age for early detection of problems to avoid vision loss due to “Amblyopia or lazy eye”. Principal Mrs. Reema Dewan told the children that healthy eyes are essential for a good quality of life.

DPS Chandigarh hosts Inter-DPS National Tennis Tournament Boys (Open) 2015

The three day Inter-DPS National Tennis Tournament Boys (Open) 2015, being held from the 18th – 20th May, 2015, was declared open with an exuberant inaugural ceremony which showcased a spectacular field show.

The function was graced by the Guests of Honour – Mr. Parminder Singh, Director – Sports, Panjab University, Mr. Ganjendra Singh, Director – Coaching, CLTA and Wg. Cdr. Mr. Beant Singh, Ex-coach, Davis Cup Series.

Ms. Reema Dewan, Principal extended her warm welcome to the Guests of Honour and the participating teams. She expressed immense pride in hosting this National event which is a big step in pursuit of athletic excellence, sportsmanship and national goodwill, strengthening the bonds between the DPS fraternity. In her inaugural address, she envisaged that such events enhance the development of sports talent.

She administered the oath to the participants and along with the guests, declared the tournament open.

The inaugural matches were played between :-

  1. DPS Chandigarh and DPS R.K. Puram
  2. DPS Sonepat and DPS Jodhpur

Twenty four teams from Delhi Public Schools all over India are participating in the tournament. The valedictory function and closing of the meet is scheduled on 20th May, 2015.

 

Family Day celebrated by Prep & Class II

Class Prep and II celebrated ‘Family Day’ where in family members of the students sat together and spent quality time with each other. Active participation of parents of the tiny tots could be seen. The children welcomed the special guests, their parents with hand crafted mementoes. They sang soulful songs followed by fun games and activities. All the parents actively participated in the games there by adding fun and vigor to the celebration.

Mother’s Day celebrated by Nursery and Class I

The children of class Nursery and Class I made their moms feel special by celebrating Mather’s Day. They mesmerized their mothers with a beautiful song and presented a gift symbolizing their love for them.

Competitions like ‘Photo Frame Making’ and ‘Dry Flower Arrangement’ added colour to the event.
