Academic Achievements

Aanish Malhotra (VII-B) won the Second prize, a cash award of Rs 500/- and the 3rd best debater award in the Inter-School Debate Competition held at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh on 2nd May 2018.

Siddharth Singh Rana (Class X-D) got International Rank 2 in the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad 2017-18. During the academic year 2017-18, more than 45000 schools from over 1400 cities in 30 countries registered for the 6 SOF olympiads and millions of students appeared in them. He has been invited to attend the Awards function to felicitate select International top performing students on June 3, 2018 at New Delhi.

Mehreen Brar (VI-G) has been declared as ASSET Talent Scholar. She has qualified for Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development (CTD) Gifted Learning Links Online Courses, Illinois USA. Some of her achievements are as follows:

NSO Level 2: Zonal Rank 4. She received gifts worth Rs 1000/- and a Certificate of Zonal Excellence.

IMO Level 1: International Rank 4 and Zonal Rank 2. She received a Medal and Certificate of distinction.

Aarav Srivastav (IV-F) won prizes in several Olympiads in the Session 2017-18. Some of his achievements are as follows:

• Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES) from SOF for overall performance in SOF Olympiads.

Mehreen Brar (VI-G) secured All India Rank 10 in NSTSE

Nehal Bansal (Class VI) won the ‘Hindustan Times Scholarship Award 2017-18’. He will be awarded a Trophy, Scholarship Certificate and Scholarship amount of Rs 25,000/-.

Samarth Dewan (Class VI) won the ‘Hindustan Times Scholarship Award 2017-18’. He will be awarded a Trophy, Scholarship Certificate and Scholarship amount of Rs 25,000/-.

Aditeya Goyal (Class V) won the ‘Hindustan Times Scholarship Award 2017-18’. He will be awarded a Trophy, Scholarship Certificate and Scholarship amount of Rs 25,000/-.

Daksh and Atishya (VII-G)  participated in Regional round of First Lego League Robotics Competition held at Gurgaon. They along with their team got 3rd position and will now head for Nationals in February.

In the State level Maths, Science and Environment exhibition, conducted by State Institute of Education, Chandigarh from 30th October to 2nd November, our School project on Mathematical Modelling has been selected for the National Level. The model was prepared by Devika (Class VIII-B) and Bhavya (Class VIII-C).

Simar Singh Tomar (Class XII) represented Anant Kumar Hegde in PSCEA and was awarded Best Position Paper for BVC Model United Nations Conference held from 4th to 6th August 2017 at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh.

Saksham Gulati (Class XI) represented Canada in UNHRC and was awarded High Commendation for BVC Model United Nations Conference held from 4th to 6th August 2017 at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh.

Our team comprising Chaitanya, Akshat Jagga, Akhilesh Shetty and Aryanpartap Singh of Class XII secured the First position in ‘Hackathon 2017’ conducted by Infosys on 29 & 30 July 2017 at their IT park campus, Manimajra. The students prepared a project on ‘Hostel Management’ in which they introduced the concepts of Machine learning and augmented reality. Interestingly, the students opted to be judged in the College level pool instead of the School level pool and outshined 29 other college teams. The Principal, Ms Reema Dewan, congratulated the team and expressed great pride on such an outstanding achievement.

Tej Pratap Singh Gill (Class VII), Jasnoor Kaur Bains (Class VII) and Anvi Mahajan (Class X) were declared State Winners from Chandigarh by TERI on the basis of their excellent performance in Green Olympiad (2016-17)

Students from Classes IV-X participated in the event ‘Science Extravaganza’ held at Carmel Convent, Chandigarh on 26th July 2017. The following students won prizes in different events:

• Shambhavi and Sunaina (Class VIII-A) won 1st prize in ‘Clean India Green India’.
• Divija Dewan and Navya Gupta (Class V-F) won 1st prize in ‘Serendipity’.
