DPS Chandigarh proudly hosted ‘Samanvay’ – The Inter DPS Fusion Dance (Choreography) Competition, at the Law Auditorium, Sector 37, Chandigarh, on Saturday, 18th July, 2009. Twelve teams from North Zone I & II participated in this event.
As the name suggests, Samanvay was an attempt to depict choreography that represents the genre of creative and fusion dance form, blending music and rhythm and thereby created a stunningly visual impact of an abstract theme.
Guru Shobha Koser, a renowned danceuse from Chandigarh graced the occasion as Chief Guest. It was a privilege to have Lt. Gen. J.S. Bawa, Chairman, DPS Chandigarh, presiding over the function. Ms. Renu Chaturvedi, Addl. Secretary, DPS Society was the Guest of Honour.
The competition was adjudged by well known dancers like Ms. Samira Koser, Ms. Puneet Jewandah and Mr. Bandeep Rekhi. Participants performed on one of a selected choice of themes :-
- Ecstasy – Ullas
- In the celebration of childhood – Jashn-e-Bachapan
- Ebb and Flow – Pravah
- Twilight – ‘Godhuli’
