DPS Chandigarh hosted the Zonal Level Inter-School Quiz on Germany on 23rd December, 2009. This quiz was one of the eight zonal level rounds conducted all over the country by DPS Society in association with the Max Mueller Bhawan, New Delhi. The quiz aims to create interest in students and schools for German people, language and culture.
The quiz received an overwhelming response. 14 schools from the city and neighbouring areas participated in the quiz. Each school was represented by a team of two class IX students.
The Guests of Honour for the day were Dr. Chauhan, HOD, German Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Mr. Surinder Singh Maken, Director, Max Mueller Bhavan, Chandigarh, Mr. Maheshwar Dayal, Ex. Head of Indo-German Business Management Training Centre, Mumbai.
The quizmasters were Ms. Alinda Holla and Ms. Vinita Gupta from DPS R.K. Puram, New Delhi. The quiz comprised of three rounds. The written round was followed by an ‘On Stage Quiz’ for the eight short-listed teams. Four teams were eliminated in this round and the remaining four competed with each other in the final round where each team chose a basket to answer the questions.
The team from Shivalik Public School, Chandigarh emerged as the winners while the students from St. Kabir, Chandigarh bagged the Runners-Up prize.
The winning team will compete with seven other teams in the national level finals of the quiz to be held at DPS, R.K. Puram, Delhi on 15th January, 2010. Top eight teams were awarded merit certificates while the winning team and runners-up were awarded with Sony MP3 Players with video.
