DPS Chandigarh hosted the Zonal Level Inter-School Quiz on Germany on 20th December, 2010. This quiz was one of the eight zonal level rounds conducted all over the country by DPS Society in association with the Max Mueller Bhawan, New Delhi. The quiz aims to create interest in students and schools for German people, language and culture.
The quiz received an overwhelming response from a large number of schools from the city and other cities of the north zone. Each school was represented by a team of two class IX students.
The Guests of Honour for the day were Mr. Surinder Singh Maken, Director, Max Mueller Bhavan, Chandigarh, Prof. J.K. Sharma (Chairperson) Department of German, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Mr. Maheshwar Dayal, President, Indo-German Language and Cultural Society and Dr. Chauhan (Faculty), Department of German, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The quizmasters were Ms. Tara Raghunath and Ms. Vani Dutta from DPS Noida. The quiz comprised of three rounds. The written round was followed by two ‘On Stage Quiz’ for the short-listed teams.
The team from Delhi Public School, Chandigarh emerged as the winners while the students from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula bagged the Runners-Up prize. The winning team will compete with seven other teams in the national level finals of the quiz to be held at DPS, Noida on 20th January, 2011. Top eight teams were awarded merit certificates while the winning team was awarded a trophy and a gift certificate worth Rs. 12000/- and runners-up were awarded a Gift Certificate worth Rs. 8000/-.
