As part of the Swachh Chandigarh Mission and to involve children as the most effective agents of change, the Municipal Corporation Team led by the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra visited Delhi Public School Chandigarh to launch Swachhata ki Paathshala to make our City Beautiful cleaner and greener. The event was also graced by Mr. N.P. Sharma – Chief Engineer, Dr. Vivek Trivedi – Director NULM and the Guest Speaker Anshu Chandna from the Municipal Corporation.
The session began with the address by the Principal, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, Mrs. Reema Dewan in which she reiterated the school’s commitment to save the environment. This was followed by a rhythmic dance by the students of the school highlighting the urgency to save the environment. The Chief Guest of the day, Ms. Anindita Mitra gave valuable lessons on waste segregation at source level, ban on single use plastic and home composting etc. To express commitment to the mission, the students and the staff joined the MC officials in taking a pledge to ban single use plastic.
The school choir held the audience spellbound as they glided from one soothing song to the other in a soulful medley.
