The Legal Conclave held on 13th -14th August, 2021, an initiative of Delhi Public School Chandigarh came to an end with a bang. It had brought together 40 schools PAN India and around 300 students who participated in various events. The invigorating battle of wits was a feat to witness. It was illuminating as well as entertaining.
The compelling event witnessed an illustrious discussion penal comprising Bibi Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR, Dr. Jatinder Nagpal, Program Director ‘Expressions India’ Consultant Psychiatrist and Dr. Chand Trehan, Counsellor RCI, Psychologist and Educator.
The opening of the event commenced with impactful speeches by all the three panelist. Dr. Jatinder Nagpal spoke about youth well-being and promotion of life skills & values as abilities for adaptive and positive behaviours. Bibi Harjinder Kaur emphasized on the protection of girls’ rights and gender equality. She also lauded the efforts of the school’s peer mentoring initiative ‘Safety Punditz’.
Day Two saw 6 Semi Finalists caught in a brain-storming, nail-biting quiz, followed by a fierce battle of wits and ideologies in the debate.
The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan strongly supported the need of creative and critical thinking and learning. She reiterated her belief in hands-on learning to engage students in direct experience and focused reflection to enhance their knowledge, skillset and values. She said, she strongly believed that students learn better from partaking in activities rather than passively reading a book or attending a lecture.
