The food that we eat can be the safest and the most powerful medicine. A healthy lifestyle can be attained by maintaining a balanced diet. The importance of nutritious food for children needs to be highlighted and should be explained to them otherwise they may end up being prone to several growth and development problems.
Keeping this in mind, ‘Health and Nutrition Day’ was organized for the students of Pre-primary wing by Team DPS, Chandigarh to promote healthy eating habits amongst the children. Children were informed about the benefits of nutritious food and the nutrients required for the body. Children learnt about the need of pulses, grains, carbohydrates, protein, fats, fruits and vegetables in human body through the food pyramid.
The little wonders marked the day by preparing their own ‘Healthy Plate’. They picked healthy foods like fruits and vegetables over junk food. The children were highly motivated to follow a healthy lifestyle.
