Diwali is an indicator of the return of hope, the conquest of light over darkness and good over evil. There was joy and gaiety in the air as Delhi Public School Chandigarh celebrated the festival of lights, Diwali with a special assembly.
The Assembly commenced with a prayer. The students then presented an engaging talk show on the diverse ways in which the festival of Diwali is celebrated across India. The mood of cheer was carried forward with a scintillating dance performance on live music.
Children were made aware that Diwali is the festival of lights and not sound. They were sensitised about the ill –effects of crackers and informed that the best way to celebrate Diwali is by lighting diyas and not bursting crackers. The students then took a pledge on Clean Diwali, Swachh Diwali by saying ‘No to Crackers’.
An Essay Competition was conducted in which students from Classes VI to X took part with great enthusiasm.
