In line with the NEP 2020 the students of class 6 were introduced to “Skill Saturday” on 27th April 2024. The idea behind this is to reduce rote learning and to increase application-based learning. The children were beaming with joy to spend a day away from books. The day started with a session with the counselling department wherein the necessity of cultivating and adhering to correct moral values during the formative years was emphasised.
This was followed by a talent hunt show where the children showcased their hidden talents in the field of music, dance, public speaking, playing instruments, magic shows etc.
Vegetable printing is an engaging and eco-friendly art technique that has captivated the imagination of students worldwide. Students used vegetables like onions, potatoes, lady fingers etc. as stamps to create unique patterns and designs on paper to create their own table mats. They learnt how to mix and make a different colour. They also made lovely impressions by dipping different types of vegetables into paint. This activity made the students creative, helped them to build team spirit and taught them to appreciate nature for providing us with so many valuable things.
In addition to these activities, a pool lunch was also organised where a variety of dishes was brought from home and the children enjoyed sharing with each other. The children were ecstatic when they left and looked forward to more such Saturdays in future!
