Dr. Papiya Mukherjee (Assistant Professor at Department of Botany, Panjab University) and Dr Nusrat Shafiq (Professor of Pharmacology, PGI, Chandigarh) were the judges of the recitation competition. Taking the opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence, the students of class 7 recited their poems with enthusiasm. Children brought alive the poems of Roald Dahl, Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, Rudyard Kipling, Piyush Mishra among others, with the beauty of their expression, thoughts, rhyme, rhythm and music of words. While one team took a leaf from the Mahabharata, the other touched patriotism. Serious themes like female foeticide left the audience teary-eyed and thoughtful while the lighter ones like Television and Muddlehead, had the audience in splits. The judges were truly enraptured by the performances and lauded the efforts of the students.
