21st February has been declared as ‘International Mother Language Day’ by UNESCO. Keeping this in mind, Ministry of Education, Government of India has declared to celebrate ‘Matribhasha Diwas’ on the same day across the country to highlight the linguistic diversity. The Pre-Primary Wing of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated this day with great enthusiasm. Children from multifarious states came dressed in their traditional dress and spoke few lines in their mother tongue and recited poems and rhymes in their mother tongues, carrying colourful props. This helped in teaching children to respect not only theirs but the other languages that persist across our nation. It is a great way to promote the feeling of National Integration in the future generation.
