Student Council members of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh for the academic session 2021-22, were sworn in on Saturday, 7th August, 2021, in an impressive virtual Investiture Ceremony, amidst an air of promise and anticipation. The newly appointed members of the Interact Club were also installed in the ceremony. Mr. Jaspal Singh Sidhu, President Rotary Club graced the occasion with his presence. The function was also attended by some eminent Rotarians.
The ceremony was a solemn occasion for the institution. It began with the lighting of the lamp followed by ‘Durga Stuti’, a song and dance presentation invoking Goddess Durga. The students presented a motivational song inspiring the young leaders to surge ahead in these unusual times, to embrace change, to practice selflessness and to work towards achieving their dreams.
This was followed by a video presentation of the Student Council and the Interact Club standing with pride in their crisp uniform, illuminated faces, brimming with confidence as their parents and grandparents pinned the badges and bestowed the mantle of responsibilities blessing the young office bearers to serve the office with dignity.
Mr. Jaspal Singh Sidhu congratulated the new council and the interact club, urging the students to take their responsibilities with utmost sincerity, and put their heart and soul into whatever they take up and reach out to the society. The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan in her address congratulated the members of the newly elected Student Council. She said that leaders set out to make a difference. She advised the young office bearers to imbibe the spirit of ‘Service Before Self’ in words and deeds and urged them to embrace their duties with humility, perseverance and loyalty. She further emphasised that the pandemic is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the skills students need in this unpredictable world such as informed decision making, creative problem solving, and perhaps above all, adaptability.
The first edition of the Virtual Investiture Ceremony was yet another milestone reached in the journey of e-learning. The ceremony came to a glorious end with the vote of thanks.
