Not dispirited by Covid, DPS ,Chandigarh remains the beacon of innovative learning. Samvidhi – The Legal Conclave is a journey and not a destination to harness legal awareness and legal literacy. To meet the promise of intrinsic e-learning, the school hosted a virtual mega event on the 12th and 13th of August,2020. Recreating the feel of the physical event the opening was marked by Durga Stuti, a divine dance to evoke a blissful aura. Taking the virtual route, the Principal in her live address encouraged the students by hailing them the frontline warriors who are better equipped to forge new road maps and a new evolved normal. She appreciated the law consciousness of the students as well as the active participation of the dignitaries and judges in making the event quite engaging and knowledgeable. She reiterated her belief in intrinsic education involving play, passion and purpose.
The super charged virtual experience engaged almost 150 entries in Offline and Online events forging a new digital mergence and collaboration pan India. Quickly adapting to the limitations, and equipped with legal literacy, the students collaborated on the digital platform in an array of offline events like Hasya Vyanga, Ad Mad, Doodling and Cartoon Caption Contest. The energetic confluence of the talented students synergized the online events such as The Legal Debate, The Newsroom, and The Quiz with their effervescence.
Day One of the invigorating event was marked by presence of the Honorable Justice Amit Rawal,former Permanent Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court and presently the Judge of Kerala High Court who was the key Speaker. He not only lauded the legal awareness of the students but also shared his insightful personal experiences and expertise.
Day Two brought together an illustrious guest list comprising Mr.Mahavir Singh Ahlawat, Additional District & Session Judge cum Member Secretary,State Legal Services Authority U.T.Chd; Dr. Upneet Lalli, Deputy Director Institute of Correctional Adminstration.Chd; Ms .Ritika Singh, entrepreneur, Blogger, Content writer ,Co-team member of TED-X Chd; Mrs.Loveleen Dhaliwal, Senior Advocate High Court; Mr.Nandan Sharma, Head of the Department of Law,Shoolini University, Solan ; Prof.(Dr)Shruti Bedi, Professor of Law at the University Institute of Legal Studies, PU; Ms.Shashi Lamba, educationist and Coordinator ,Planning Cell for Akal Academy ,Baru Sahib;Mr.Harit Mohan, an IITian and entrepreneur / CEO of Signicent LLP in India. The semi finalists of the Debate and the Newsroom endured the intense grilling and challenging rebuttals of the Judges with intriguing and provocative responses.
The Overall First Position and the Cash Prize went to DPS, Chandigarh but, being the host school, the trophy was passed on to the Learning Path School, Mohali along with the Cash Prize of Rs. 5000/-. And the Overall Second Position was bagged by KBDAV, Chandigarh, winning a cash price of Rs 3000/-
We may have come to the finale of this year’s confluence but our students who are the future trustees shall continue to endeavor to make a better world that is more just and beautiful.
