Delhi Public School, Chandigarh, witnessed the Magnum-Opus, Gandhi – Ek Soch on 4th, 5th and 6th December2019. The students presented a musical narrative to commemorate 150th birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi as the school celebrated fifteen years of its completion. The musical saga was a collaborative venture of DPS, Chandigarh with Silly Point Productions, Mumbai. The production traced the making of the Mahatma and his voyage of becoming the champion of non –violence. The mega event was conceptualised, planned and directed by the Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan and Mr. Danesh A.R. Khambatta. It was a one of its kind school production with original songs penned by Ms. Reema Dewan and scintillating dances on opulent sets. More than five hundred students presented the show on the three days.
The Principal Ms. Reema Dewan deemed it her good fortune to have recreated and reinvented the enigma of Mahatma and provide a lifetime experience to the students.
A galaxy of dignitaries graced the three daylong celebration. On the inaugural day Mr V. K.Shunglu, Chairman, The Delhi Public School Society, Delhi was the guest of honour. Ms. Keshni Anand Arora, IAS, Chief Secretary, Haryana and Honourable Mr. Justice Tejinder Singh Dhindsa were the Chief Guests on 5th and 6th December respectively. The other distinguished guests to witness the event were Mrs. Madhu Shunglu, Mrs Ambika Soni, MP, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal, Former MP, School Directors, Mr. Anup Soni , Mr. Amit Bansal, Mr. Bal Krishan Bansal, Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR, Ms. Bhawna Garg, IAS, Mr. Shashank Anand, IPS, Mr. Kamal Arora, Chairman, CSNA. The production received a standing ovation both from parents and the various dignitaries. Mr.Shunglu, was visibly impressed by the impeccable performance showcased by the students in the musical. He congratulated the Principal, Ms. Reema Dewan for spearheading and achieving excellence in education by completing fifteen glorious years.
As the curtain falls on such a spell binding show, DPS Chandigarh would like to set the tone for a bigger and more spectacular silver jubilee celebrations.
