Students of Class VI of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh presented their class show ‘Jagriti’ on the occasion of the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony. Showcasing the theme that a society can be motivated to change only when there is awareness of what is going on around us , the programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Honourable Chief Guest , Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR. She stressed on the importance of the role that parents play in shaping the personalities of their children by being their role models. This was followed by the song ‘Jagriti’ urging the audience to awaken and bring about a change. The students highlighted the negative effects man has brought about on the earth in the form of a street play and advocated equality for women through an impressive performance. A dance-drama on child labour left many teary eyed. A mime showcasing overdependence of man on mobiles had the audience in splits. Little qawwals mesmerised everyone with their soulful qawwali. The audience was left speechless as the show came to an end with the grand finale reinforcing the message that awareness is desirable and much needed.
The Chief Guest, Mrs. Harjinder Kaur gave away the prizes and appreciated the efforts of the students.
The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan, in her welcome address, congratulated the students and the parents. She said that learning in the classroom is as important as learning outside it and these class shows are a platform to showcase and nurture the talent of each and every child.
