Student Council members of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh for the current academic session were sworn in on Wednesday, 26th July, 2017, at an impressive Investiture Ceremony, amidst an air of enthusiasm and anticipation. The newly appointed members of the Interact Club were also inducted.
Mr. Alok Kumar, DIG (UT) was the Chief Guest. Past Rotary International President Mr. Rajendra K. Saboo, President Rotary Club, Chandigarh, Mr. P.S. Matharoo and other eminent Rotarians graced the occasion.
The auspicious ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a short cultural programme that included a short instrumental music composition, rendition of poem ‘If’ and a dance performance which was based on King Ashoka’s transformation from a ruthless conquerer to an enlightened ruler giving the message that benevolence and morality are two qualities that make great leaders.
The newly invested members were pinned by Mr. Alok Kumar. He congratulated the new council and urged students to take their responsibilities with utmost sincerity, and put their heart and soul into whatever they take up in life if they want to excel. Rotary President Mr. Matharoo also encouraged the students during his address.
The Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan in her address reminded the council that with authority comes great responsibility and accountability. She said that true leadership is in making bridges and there is no place other than school where students can get the best lessons in life skills. She emphasized that today we need leaders who are inspired, groomed and confident to take on challenges. The vote of thanks was proposed by the school Head Girl.
