DPS Chandigarh hosted the Annual Inter DPS Dance Festival on August 6, 2016 in the school auditorium. The dance competition featured seventeen dance teams from North Zone-1. The participating teams presented fabulous dances based on the theme ‘Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya’.
Guru Shoba Koser and Dr. Suchitra Mitra, were the Guests of Honour for the occasion. The competition was adjudged by an esteemed panel consisting of Guru Brij Mohan Gangani, renowned Kathak Dancer, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, Head of the Dance department, GCG Sector 42, Chandigarh and Ms. Sunita Sharma, Head of the Dance department, PGGCG Sector 11, Chandigarh.
The programme started with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the honourable guests and the participating teams were given a warm welcome by the Principal, Mrs. Reema Dewan. She expressed her immense pleasure and pride in hosting the Inter-DPS Dance Competition. In her address, she said that such competitions give us an amazing platform to acquaint our children with the rich heritage of our wonderful nation. She further added that such meets are a coming together of hearts and minds that leads to a brighter and better world.
The whole event was a cultural extravaganza and showcased the pristine and the highest dance forms at their best. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the
breath-taking performances. The show was spiritually motivating and indeed mesmerizing.
DPS Chandigarh was adjudged the winner while DPS Azad Nagar, Kanpur and Greater Faridabad bagged the first and second Runners-up positions respectively.
