The students of Delhi Public School, Chandigarh celebrated the Constitution Day on 26th November 2015. The aim was to make students aware of the fact that the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949 and to honour democracy. The assembly began with a scintillating performance by the school orchestra.
Students of class IX and X presented a skit to celebrate the Constitution as a “living document”, capable of adapting itself to current situation. The skit highlighted the four guiding principles of Indian Constitution, “Liberty, Equality, Justice and Fraternity” and their relevance in modern India. It left a message that the Constitution is not a remote document but permeates every aspect of our life.
Mr. Vishal Kataria, Headmaster, addressed the students briefly about the significance of celebrating the Constitution Day. He led the school in taking the pledge by reciting the PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION. The reciting of the preamble filled the students mind with a sense of being a part of one great nation.
A poster making competition to illustrate the messages contained in the Preamble to the Indian Constitution was also organised for students of classes VI to XII.
