Delhi Public School, Chandigarh ushered in the ninth Student Council in an Investiture Ceremony marked with anticipation and promise. The evening was also marked with celebration of excellence where the young achievers of the senior school were felicitated for their achievements in academics, sports and co-curricular activities in the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony.
Mr. R.S. Ghuman, S.P. Operations, Chandigarh Police and Mr. R.J. Khanderao, Regional Officer, C.B.S.E. Panchkula presided over the function as Guests of Honour.
As per the DPS tradition, the show began with the lighting of the lamp. A cultural programme comprising of Qawwali, a Santhal dance and a dance on a medley of Bollywood numbers enthralled the audience. A film on leadership made by the students was the highlight of the show.
The honoured guest Mr. R.S. Ghuman administered the Oath of office and gave away the badges to all members of the Student Council. In his address to the students, he encouraged the children to dream big but also work hard to achieve them and be disciplined in life.
The young scholars, budding sportsperson and artists were honoured with proficiency awards, scholar badges and honours badges by the Guest of Honour, Mr. R.J. Khanderao who applauded the performance of the students and congratulated them on their success. He also lauded the efforts made by DPS in the field of education in Chandigarh.
