The students of DPS Chandigarh organized a spectacular Sports Meet ‘Indradhanush’ on 25th January, 2011 in the school premises. The meet was organized in keeping with the belief upheld by the school that apart from academics, sports activities, such as these, too play a vital role in development of a child’s personality. More than 1100 children from classes VI-X participated with great zeal and enthusiasm and put up a magnificent show.
Mr. P.K. Srivastava, I.G. Police, Chandigarh, presided over the meet as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the efforts of the children telling them that winning and participation are equally important. He advised the parents, the custodians of children to create awareness about traffic rules in their children. The meet was also attended by many other distinguished guests and proud parents.
The meet commenced with the lighting of the flame by the sports stars of our school. The school choir then enthralled the audience with a medley of songs.
The meet showcased a spell-binding display of March Past, Aerobics, Yoga and drill. The fascinating mix of harmony, rhythm, colour and melody impressed one and all. The show was interspersed with a few fun races – Knotty Kerchiefs, Sahib Memsahib, Engine Shunting, Garlands Galore and many more. The children seemed to be having a blast while participating in these fun races.
The grand finale of the day was the pride of Punjab – ‘Bhangra’. Each and everyone in the audience was mesmerized by the lively, foot tapping, energetic presentation of the dancers of DPS.
